This piece was inspired by an orchid plant gifted to my mom by a friend. One day I watched as the orchid plant sat there on my dining room table in all its glory, my mom commented that orchid plants do not always last very long. In that moment I decided it would be my next watercolor painting. My goal was to capture the velvety quality of the petals, and freeze the orchid in time.
